Mathilde, with her fiery hair, followed me into the cold. Our breath formed billowing, white clouds and our teeth chattered fiercely. But her sweet, young face remained just so and her piercing blue eyes caught mine through my lens and before we were forced inside as the snow began falling and the cold began gnawing at our limbs, we captured these...

Fire and Freckles (lost and then found) Part 2

Fire and freckles
My French muse with hair of fire talked happily of her new found love and life in Sweden as we roamed around my island home taking photos back in the light-filled summer days. My baby bump was almost non existent then and we climbed through overgrown trees that dug into our skin and pulled at our hair. I lost lots of these images but here are a few of the survivors.

Merike
It was rain, hail and then thunder that seemed to shake the whole planet. Lightning lit the grey sky and I shivered. It was one of those days to curl up safe under warm blankets and listen to the weather outside. This is the day I met Merike.
After wam tea we set about shooting her designs for an exhibition the following day. A simple shoot but full of inspiration for me. I love to see other people's work and Merike's was beautiful, simple and bold.
We edited the images while sipping juice out of fancy glasses and before long we were done and I was on my way home to my loves. It's still the beginning but I love my job.

Making of a home
I have moments where I want to run free and travel and leave behind any notion of a home but this tiny place where we have lived the last two years, where August was conceived and where he has spent the first precious months of his life is as much a home as it can be. When I first moved in I shared the house with three other boys and as time went on we saw lots of faces come and go for shorter or longer periods. I felt a little like it was a half-way house like it was the house to visit as each person found their way in the big city or where passers through could find somewhere to rest. From then it has slowly evolved into our family home and even though we may not own this space we have filled it with more love and laughter, anguish, tears and joy than I thought possible. We have crammed the corners with things we love, mostly old and preloved bits and pieces we have found. And although we could leave tomorrow, today it is ours and lived in with happiness.

A fun shoot on a ridiculously hot day. We poured water on the concrete so that we could walk on it without burning our feet and took long water filled breaks when the sun got too mean. As always August and Rasmus were close by and my long haired model Alex met half of my family that was busy filling the last cool spaces in the hot house. I was so exhausted on the trip home I fell asleep with the air conditioner blowing fiercely and dreamed of forget me nots.
